Customer Review: Not a very true likeness of the statue
This girl cocks her left hip out a little, and the original girl stands straight and tall. The facial detail on this model is also very coarse, and the trunk and arms are incorrectly proportioned. If you want a good “Bird Girl,” look for a copy licensed by the sculptor’s estate (Sylvia Shaw Judson).
Customer Review: Very poor quality - breaks easily
Looked excellent at first, then statues (I have owned three) develope complete cracks around the lower dress portion which will separate when the statue is lifted. The statues were never outdoors and have never fallen. Very disappointing that the people with the licensing rights would vigorously protect those rights, but license a very poor quality reproduction. Since cracks and breakage appear to be common, the manufacture should look at other materials other than stone and resin.

Customer Review: Don’t overlook this!
William Lloyd Webber (1914-1982) was the father of Andrew and Julian Lloyd Weber. It’s clear that musical ability ran/runs in that lineage! As usual, Hyperion has released a well-performed and well-recorded CD. And the various works provide a very reasonable cross-section of this unsung composer’s range and talent. According to the liner notes, William Lloyd Webber’s “most prolific period as a composer was roughly the decade following the Second World War.” The booklet likens his style to that of Delius and the French school. It is truly superb music meriting greater critical and public attention! Recommended!

Customer Review: Pure Perfection
Words cannot express how much I adore these two discs, but here goes anyway. A friend gave me a burned copy ‘Love Songs’ which I lost and so I purchased this double disc set. Arleen is by far and away my favorite soprano of all time and if you end up owning these cd’s, I have no doubt she will become yours as well. Arleen had the most gorgeous voice, a pure yet colorful tone. And her technique as demonstrated on these recordings was superb. If you are a singer as am I, you will not be able to ignore her phrasing on The Salley Gardens - it’s truy astonishing. If you are in to doing side by side comparison, try listening to Arleen’s version of O Del Mio Amato Ben, then listen to Sumi Jo’s version. But be forewarned if you’re a Sumi Jo fan, you won’t be able to listen to her version ever again. Arleen wrings every bit of naked emotion out of that song without ever being cheesy or over the top. Her musical instinct and interpretation was as flawless as her voice and technique. I use these cd’s as my personal master classes with an impeccable artist who was taken from us all much too soon.
Customer Review: Had a Freudian moment
Be it known, I had no intention of writing a review of this recording. I still do not in fact. But I listened to the late Ms. Auger’s reading of ‘Lascia chio pianga’ and nearly seized (cigarette in hand and all.) I’ve yet to move beyond track five. That being documented, I implore both the fastidious collector of vocal music and the layman alike to purchase this set. Oh, and about the Freud…following the aforementioned revelatory aural sensation of some five minutes, I typed amazing.com in place of the amazon.com destination. “Behind every mishap in speech, writing, etc. there lies an unconcious motive…” Well,

Customer Review: Building a Garden Trellis
This is a very nice book with excellent illustrations and descriptions of different climbing vines that can be used on a trellis. It also includes pictures of nine trellises that you can build yourself, with the dimensions for each one. A background in woodworking is helpful. The instructions tell you what materials, tools, and supplies are needed, but does not go into detail about the actual construction. Since I have never done woodworking before, I had to get help from friends. I also referred to the Readers Digest “New Complete Do-It-Yourself Manual”. I was really pleased at how nice my first trellis turned out. I am getting ready to build another one. The hard part is choosing which trellis pattern I want to use next.

I love these asparagus spears — taste great in a bloody mary, a salad, or just for snacking. I get sick of eating meat and cheese all the time on the Atkins diet and it’s nice to have a veggie snack that’s healthy and low carb (and I don’t have to cook it!). I just wish they carried them at Safeway — the San Francisco Costco is a little nerve-wracking to go into just for asparagus (but I will if I have to). I suggest you give them a try.
Customer Review: We drove 600 miles for Gertie’s Asparagus!
We found this delicious asparagus in Maui, Hawaii at a Costco while on our vacation. Since we could not carry the “family pak” we decided not to purchase it. We hoped that our local Costco would carry the product. We were sad that we could not find the asparagus in San Diego. My girlfriend found it in the San Francisco bay area at her local Costco. We cancelled all holiday plans to drive 1200 miles just to purchase 12 jars of the asparagus. Our friends enjoy the asparagus as much as we do. Hopefully the product will be at Costco’s in our area.

Customer Review: The Voice of Experience
Written by an experienced church planter, this book seeks to motivate and equip others to do the same. The author believes that planting new churches is the best way to evangelize the lost. He has lived this out: the two churches he founded are responsible for planting more than 200 congregations around the world. The author’s methodology is marred in places by a man-centered, “seeker sensitive” approach, and the theology is fairly thin. There is scarce mention of the glory of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, the salvation of the lost or the centrality of the Word. A cult using these same strategies would probably grow. Nevertheless, the author provides many points of practical wisdom that, used critically and grounded in a more robust theology, could prove valuable to prospective church planters
Customer Review: Simple but not Simplistic
Ralph Moore, associated with the Foursquare denomination, is one of the United States’ most prominent church planters. While his work is concentrated in Hawaii and California, he has assisted in numerous church plants throughout the world. “Starting a New Church” is a collection of Moore’s methodology, advice, and rationale. It includes anecdotal evidence of both his successes and failures. “Starting a New Church” is certainly an easy read. The book is divided into 20 chapters; and each chapter is subdivided significantly. There are no long paragraphs and the book provides frequent “stopping places” so that one does not have to purposefully block out time to read it. It lends itself well to those who pick up a book to kill time in between other appointments. Chapter topics include discussions on why to plant a church, how to begin planting, developing value and mission statements, raising funds, governmental structure, stewardship, and how your new church should go about planting a daughter church. While the book is simple in its structure and its prose, it is certainly not simplistic. Moore’s thoughts are arranged topically, and there is little purposeful connection between the various sections, but they are all sound advice and worth considering (even if one does ultimately reject it). While it took this reader a little time to “catch on to” Moore’s comparatively unstructured prose, I did come to appreciate the matter-of-fact presentation of Moore’s advice. He simply barrages the reader with “this was my issue, I considered these approaches, I decided on this one for these reasons, this is the result.” I recommend this book for those who are considering planting a church, congregational leaders who are considering planting a daughter church, and those who need to revitalize a stagnant ministry. You probably won’t adopt Moore’s approach in total, but you will appreciate his experienced voice when making your own decisions.
