Customer Review: A good test for audiophile equipment
I believe this to be 1 of Enigma’s 2 best albums. It compares very well to MCMXC A.D. but in a different light. MXMXC was more electronic classical. This CD is more European Classical meets Japanese Taiko Drumming. Booming bass and great sound effect. It really cries out to be played on great audio equipment and really good speakers. It just won’t be as good on your car CD player and only degrades more though headphones. So listening to your IPod or a portable CD players will greatly reduce the experience. This cd demands an auditorium to fully enjoy the smorgasbord of musical experience. Go chase down your audiophile friend and listen to this album on his stereo. You’ll see what I mean.

Customer Review: Fanciful Ideas
I’m on the lookout for books that have diagrams of very small structures for the yard that might be used as guesthouses. Many books that I have looked at have buildings that are too big, or are aimed at the do-it-yourself crowd — more plans, fewer different ideas. This book has 12 drawings of small buildings that might be used as designed or slightly modified to make an overnight house for guests. Some of the gazebos presented are unusual as well. I would like to be able to find 3 or 4 more books with this focus.

Customer Review: Good Book
This was actually a gift for a friend, but I always try to peruse before I hand over a book just to make sure it doesn’t have any questionable content.

I am not very interested in photography, but I found the book very fascinating. If I had had time, I would have read it more in depth.

However, the reason I did not give it a fifth star is because it had some questionable pictures in it. Nothing too bad, but it was enough to catch my attention. Because of the pictures, this is a book I would only give to responible adults. Definitely not to kids or teens.

Customer Review: Well written, well illustrated
For beginners, amateurs, enthusiasts and the like, this book makes a good kick start on several lighting techniques.

You get the basics explained in detail, fx. butterly/paramount lighting, along with some funny anecdotes - and there’s room for playing around with variations on the light setups.

The photos shown are very good, without being extremely exceptional - which I find is a good thing for this type of book. “First you gotta crawl…”

I’m pretty experienced in studio light setup, yet I found this book gave me inspiration as well as education.

Customer Review: Heavy on the name dropping, light on the details
Obviously, Michael Grecco is an accomplished photographer, his body of work speaks for itself. On the dust jacket and in the introduction, Grecco says, “…Assistants and other photographers have asked why I would want to give away my secrets in a book…” After reading this book, I would like to assure Mr. Grecco’s contemporaries that his secrets still lie safe with him.

Lots of allusions to celebrity and lots of high end equipment name dropping occur. There is very little discussion about development of the theme of an image. This is definitely a book for Grecco fans not for experienced photographers seeking additional insight. The title is deceptive, the chapter on Illumination is 44 pages, that’s right, 44 pages.

Don’t bother.

Customer Review: The pictures are pretty
There are a lot of pretty pictures, and a few lighting diagrams, but most of this book is Mr. Grecco recounting his favorite photo shoots with stories that don’t lend much to teaching new photographers. It may be packed full of inspiration, but it’s lacking on inspiration. Also, you will be hard pressed to recreate any of the images you see here, unless you have the kind of budget that would suggest you not be concerned about spending the $30 for this book anyway.

I purchased this to plant tulip bulbs. I was able to plant 100 bulbs in a couple of hours. The drill held the auger tight and the construction of the planter blades held even though I was drilling through rocky, clay soil.

On thing only mentioned briefly in the description - this watch does NOT make a beeping noise when you hit the buttons. It makes a sort of dull click. For those of us looking to use a stopwatch in a quiet environment and an unobtrusive way (I’m a stage manager) this is FANTASTIC.

The Pro Survivor is somewhat better than the survivor because it offers extra shock resistance; more water resistance; no fail switches and an extra large display. The XL display was important for me. The watch is simple. It measures minutes, seconds and 1/100 seconds up to 40 minutes, then it only measures hours, minutes and seconds. The time and date features were not important to me. It has a five year warranty without proof of purchase.

Customer Review: Cool timekeeper with a couple of litle problems.
The size, shape, button layout, chouce of time, count up timer, count down timer is neat. Good for timing your work or cooking food. Has a magnet on back and long cord so it’s handy to carry, store on fridge, other metal.

Main drawback is that timer only goes to 9:59 hours. No good for timing long events (ie consulting jobs). Buttons are a bit sensitive and there’s no hold button so if you do carry it you have to be careful pushing by mistake.

This study covers the latent demand outlook for exterior wood millwork, porch columns, porch rails, newels, trellises, and entrances across the prefectures and cities of Japan. Latent demand (in millions of U.S. dollars), or potential industry earnings (P.I.E.) estimates are given across some 1,000 cities in Japan. For each city in question, the percent share the city is of it?s prefecture and of Japan is reported. These comparative benchmarks allow the reader to quickly gauge a city vis-?-vis others. This statistical approach can prove very useful to distribution and/or sales force strategies. Using econometric models which project fundamental economic dynamics within each prefecture and city, latent demand estimates are created for exterior wood millwork, porch columns, porch rails, newels, trellises, and entrances. This report does not discuss the specific players in the market serving the latent demand, nor specific details at the product level. The study also does not consider short-term cyclicalities that might affect realized sales. Clear display without being too bright.

The two alarms is fantastic, and I love the backwards/forwards knob to set them individually. This was really easy to use right out of the box.

I recently lose power for a day in San Francisco due to crazy storms, and loved that this just picked the time right back up without needing to be reset. I can afford a lot more for a clock, but didn’t bother and see no need. A digital radio tuner would be nice, but I really don’t miss it. I’ve got the radio on my favorite station, and the reception is good - I haven’t had to change it or adjust.

No complaints. Better than most clock radios available in the hotels I’ve stayed at, and I tend to stay in the nicer-ish places when I travel on business.

Easy and fully functional. I’d buy it again for every bedroom in the house. You can’t go wrong.

I bought this clock to replace an old dual alarm that I have had for years. My main goal was to find a clock radio that would actually pick a few radio stations; I like to set my alarm to radio. This Sony works great. Picks up many stations,the buttons are fairly simple and the unit is somewhat compact. Great buy for the money!!!

The title track is now a Christian radio institution. “Rain Love” is a beatlesque ride through a manna-like transfusion of God’s greatness. “If You Believe In Miracles” follows along that path as well with hope, inspiration and positive thinking. Like reading the book of John first (upon becoming a Christian), buying “Take Me To The Cross” first in the Al Denson catalogue is suggested. What more can be said?! If you enjoy listening to worshipful Christian music - then this CD should be in your collection. I had the opportunity to hear Al Denson sing “Take Me To The Cross” live in Orlando, FL in July 2000 at a youth convention and it brought tears to my eyes and heart! A beautiful blend of poignant words and a tender voice make him one of my favorite Christian artists. I would absolutely want to hear more and see him in concert again.

This is a great item for a kitchen greenhouse window so you can pick your herbs and add them to your cooking. Everything grew for me within a week (and I am no gardener)! My pot is white and dark green ceramic with red accents (pretty) which is great for my kitchen but is misleading from the picture.

The Big Chill
Lawrence Kasdan’s 1983 big-budget variation on John Sayles’s The Return of the Secaucus Seven finds a cluster of old college radicals–who have since gone on to sundry professions and various degrees of materialism–reuniting over the death of a friend. Both playful and thoughtful, the film represents Kasdan (Body Heat) at his most astute. The attractive cast meshes perfectly into a group of characters for which a former closeness is out of synch with their current lives, yet their warmth is enviable and inviting. Customer Review: Good film after all these years
Tom Brokaw’s new book, “Boom!” mentions “The Big Chill” and somehow I’ve missed seeing it over the years. I was pleasantly surprised to see then-young actors Tom Berenger, Kevin Kline, Glenn Close and William Hurt (among others) come together for a strong ensemble performance. These thirty-somethings gather over a weekend of a sad event and manage to explore their current and past lives in a way that seems surprisingly relevant. I wouldn’t say “The Big Chill” is timeless but I could imagine a group of my own friends having some of the same conversations today.

If there’s not a whole lot of “action” in “The Big Chill” it makes up for it in insight. The soundtrack is a great addition but it is really the fine acting that carries the film and it’s great to see so many up and coming stars. “The Big Chill” is worth a look.

Customer Review: A strong ensemble cast
Everyone in the cast does a good job in this film, particularly Kevin Kline and Glenn Close as the couple who host a group of old friends for several nights after the death of another friend. I had seen it years ago, then just again today and, though one might hear some whining now and then, it’s not irritating.

The only thing I find intrusive on occasion is the soundtrack, which has great songs but tends to interrupt the narrative instead of to advance it.

We upgraded to this from the turtle sandbox and we LOVE it. My kids (5 & 2) love the corner seats and it’s a lot deeper than the turtle, so it holds much more sand. It also looks better.

We’ve had this sandbox for about six months and it’s been great. The lid has remained in place through many thunderstorms and the sand is just as nice as the day we filled the box. We would highly recommend it.

Customer Review: Stunning story of hope and action
Maathai is the first African woman and the first environmentalist to win the Nobel Peace Prize-in 2004. Masthai’s life is inspiring-from her humble beginnings as a child laborer on the plantation of a white English colonial farm with her family, to her early education in the primitive Ihithe primary school at age 8, to further education at St. Cecilia’s at the Mathari Catholic Mission, to college in the United States. She taught at the University in Kenya, and was active in the National Council of Women in Kenya (NCWK) for many years. Many failures are scattered throughout her life: she was divorced by her husband; she lost her job at the University when she tried to run for office, and she was arrested many times for her work in promoting democracy in Kenya. One of the projects she worked on was to stop the construction of a huge 60-story skyscraper in the middle of Uhuru Park in Nairobi; another was to obtain the release of over 50 men who had been imprisoned for agitating for a multi-party system. She held a hunger strike with their mothers, in Uhuru Park, and then they all retreated to a nearby Anglican cathedral to continue to protest after being routed from the park by armed police (Along with many others, Maathai was beaten and taken to hospital). Eventually the men were released. Maathai started the Green Belt Movement in 1977. In 2002 Kenya finally held free and democratic open elections and Maathai won a seat in the Parliament. Just today I watched a report on the news about the devastating drought in the Southeast United States. Hard times are coming. We need to learn about climate change and what we can do to manage it.
