Customer Review: What an Adventure Game Should Be
Return to Mysterious Island is an interactive adventure game about a women who ends up shipwrecked on an island and must find a way off.
FUN and NON-LINEAR!
The best feature of this game is that it is completely non-linear. You can play the game in any order and there are several different ways to solve problems. This allows the player more creativity. The puzzles range from easy to challenging and I am sure there are still some things I did not figure to do the first time I played!
GRAPHICS/MUSIC
The graphics are pretty good, though most of the action is seen in cartoon drawings rather than in actual action. The music is decent too.
This is a great game for Adventure game for adventure game lovers!
Customer Review: Great Game
The best thing about this game is the way you can combine objects to make new ones. Then you can take them apart again to make a different object. The Adventure Company RETOMYSTISLAND Return To Mysterious Island [windows 98/me/2000/xp]

From Timber Ridge To Daymer Gardens
Thorsten Kaye and Dorothy Bridges are perhaps better known in acting circles than literary ones; the classically trained Kaye has appeared on both stage and television; Bridges is the widow of Lloyd Bridges and the mother of Beau and Jeff–all well-known show-business names. Their collaboration on From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens takes them far away from Hollywood, however. These 13 poems are concerned mainly with matters of the heart. For both poets, memory is key. In “Portrait of my Husband at Malibu,” Bridges is elegiac as she writes, “There sits my dream of love, my hero/The one I was young with.” Kaye’s memories, on the other hand, are less tranquil–his are “dreams scratched into table tops/Across this Irish town.”
Bridges and Kaye aren’t Yeats or Donne, but they don’t pretend to be. Both adhere to an old-fashioned, romantic style of poetry with straightforward themes and rhyme schemes. From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens is perfect for readers who like their poetry sweet, unpretentious, and accessible.
Customer Review: A favorite CD
The poetry on this CD is gently evocative of meloncholy memories that most listeners can relate to. But it is the captivating voice of the reader, Thorsten Kaye, that invites many listening moments.
Customer Review: a journey in words
I found this slim, delicate volume to be utterly enchanting. It is a lovely tribute to Mr. Bridges. “A Journey in Words” is a fitting subtitle as there is strong physicality and a sense of specific locations in the poems while the journey of each one is in the mind and spirit. There is a delicate undercurrent throughout the book of the bittersweet passage of seasons and lives that draws the reader straight on through the journey of the volume. I have always liked poetry that had rhythm and rhyme, grace and gentility and this volume provides that in abundance. They would be magnificent when read aloud. Since reading it the first time, I have found myself coming back to many lines that echo in my head. One that touched me particularly — “… in my soul I light a candle for all the words I didn’t say.” And I will probably always be haunted (no pun intended) by the line that ends all the stanzas of “Fall” by Thorsten Kaye, “Mum - there are ghosts after all.”

Suiseki: The Japanese Art of Miniature Landscape Stones
Suiseki are stones that have naturally weathered into forms suggestive of mountains, islands, and waterfalls. Highly decorative, these stones are also sophisticated tools for inner reflection. The Japanese have gathered suiseki for centuries, but the art has only become popular in the West in the last decade, especially among bonsai growers. This book is both a general introduction to suiseki and a source of detailed information. It emphasizes strategies for collecting and includes geology, aesthetics, and lists of sites and resources throughout the world. It also explains how to make attractive wooden display bases.
Customer Review: Suiseki: The Japanese Art of Miniature Landscape
Looking for something new to do? Something out of the ordinary? Something inexpensive and relaxing? Maybe its time to collect suiseki (soo-ee-sek-ee). Felix G. Rivera, founder of the California Suiseki Society, explains how to collect and appreciate suiseki in his book, Suiseki: The Japanese Art of Miniature Landscape Stones. Rivera began collecting more than twenty years ago. Since then he has written and lectured internationally about the centuries-old art of suiseki collecting. New and experienced collectors alike will find his book interesting and helpful. Although they may look like nothing more than plain rocks to the casual observer, suiseki are very special stones. The forces of nature have carved them into miniature mountains, islands, waterfalls, and other landscapes. Some suiseki resemble humans or animals. Suiseki collectors are simply people who search for intriguing stones, which they bring home, clean, and display. Among the benefits of collecting suiseki is time spent enjoying the outdoors and a fascinating stone that reminds you of the good time you had finding it. Rivera says “the true spirit of suiseki is a shared experience,” and for many, the search is as pleasurable as finding that one perfect stone. Suiseki are never machine cleaned or polished; collectors spend many relaxing hours lovingly hand-rubbing their tiny landscapes. Other than perhaps grinding off the bottoms so that they may be displayed, suiseki are not altered in any way by humans. Rivera writes that “a suiseki may be viewed quite simply–as a pretty stone with a nice shape–or it may be viewed at various levels of complexity that embrace art, philosophy, or mineralogy or that serve as a metaphor for the connections between one’s private world and the universe.” He says that the various levels at which one can enjoy and appreciate suiseki make them not only art, but also enable collectors to “achieve personal satisfaction and peace.” He has filled his book with tips on where to search, what to look for, and how to clean and display suiseki. Rivera provides general and introductory material for new collectors, and detailed references for the more experienced. He includes drawings and photographs, including 32 full-color plates with detailed captions. The appendices include a glossary, bibliography, and lists of where to obtain more information, such as maps and collectors clubs. In his forward to Rivera’s book, Arishige Matsuura, Chairperson of the Japan Suiseki Association, writes “all that is required to enter the world of suiseki is to find something intriguing about the stone.” Rivera opens the doors to that enchanting world with his comprehensive, but easy-to-understand book.
Customer Review: A thorough and lovely book
I own all the other books listed in the suiseki section, and have read numerous descriptions of the art of Suiseki as they appear in books on Bonsai, and I feel that Mr. Rivera’s book was the first to help me understand what makes a suiseki different than any fascinating stone that I might pick up. The sections on aesthetics, and display were extremely helpful. And lastly, the photos were of terrific quality, and variety. It would be the first book I would buy on the art.
