Customer Review: Don’t count on adjustability
The ony thing I can say about this is that if you think you will be dependant on the adjustability you might want to pass this up. Luckily for me the length is still workable (im 5′6″) but if you think you will need to shorten the rope for whatever reason do not count on it. To adjust it what you do is just push the some of the rope down into the handle and in my experience unless you continue to hold on to the rope directly while you jump it will simply expand back out to its full size.

I have owned many different ropes and this is the heaviest one I have ever used. The advertisement describes it as a “speed rope”. That description is totally misleading. If you want a true speed rope, order one of the ropes from Buddy Lee on this site.

I bought the smallest kit available to see if my 10 year old would like it for his birthday. Wow! Both our boys 10 & 5, our daughter, my hubby, his dad and I all found ourselves having a great time with it. Each of us made our own project, some with the book and some without. A good chance for grandpa to show off his very impressive skills! Can’t wait to add to the set.

This is such a nice toy to “play” with. The included booklet shows a diagram of each project. They start out simple and basic. The directions are easy to follow. My 8 yr old son is able to easily follow the progression of each project on his own. Some of the projects are building circuits to light up a small light bulb, or sound off a small siren that has various sounds to choose, or spin a fan that will fly in the air. While they play with the pieces that snap on and snap off, they inadvertently learn what is needed to complete the various circuits. They are learning great information while playing. The board and pieces seem durable and well made. We are very pleased with this set and highly recommend it to others.

I’ve never had a bread machine. Never made bread before. This book made it easy to start. I was looking for a way to make a small loaf of bread because I found myself throwing out unused store bought bread. This book is great for making a small amount for one or two people or more bread for larger parties. Haven’t tried all the recipes but so far Semolina is my favorite.

Customer Review: Fine movie
I like 101 Dalmatians just fine as a movie. Its a bit strange in modern culture to see a children’s film with so much smoking. Whats even more surprising is Roger, a hero character, smokes his pipe in most of the movie. The villians top the smoking by combining it with some drinking. I don’t mind overmuch though, because its an older film. There wasn’t as much as a cultural pressure against smoking or drinking back in the day.

The animation is finely restored. I enjoy the story, the animation of the dogs is appealing, and their trials and clever escape ideas are fun to watch(if almost always in vain). Take it or leave it, liking the show is up to you.

My gripe - other than the boring special features- is the bulk of advertisements cluttering the opening. With VHS you could fast forward through the already viewed and outdated previews. In the theaters they’re usually still relevant and sometimes exciting. In this DVD… not even the cheat buttons on my remote button. Title group - blocked. Menu - blocked. Top menu - same story. One can shorten the blow by tapping the next track button repeatedly, but its a major hassle and still takes forever. I just paid full price for a movie thats been out since I was 10. You think they could drop the mandatory advertisements for their customers(Especially when those movies advertised have been out since I was 5. We got it.)

I like healthy granolas and cashews so i naturally like this. My only complaint is they went a bit overboard on the small seeds. I ended up eating most of it and all I had left was the small seeds on the bottom. I like seeds but that was a bit much. I will try the other flavors though as I do like the trail mix. I was almost surprised at the amount of fat though: 12g per serving, 5 servings a bag.

I’ve used these sticks with my CBEFM for a few cycles now.

Like the OCD person that I am, I’ve used both the CBEFM with monitoring from my doctor, and they both correspond to each other. It’s good to know that it works appropriately.

My only complaint is that they are on the pricey side, and since the CBEFM will always ask for them in quantities of 10, you can go through a whole box in one month. My best suggestion is once you get the 1st “peak” day, that you can stop testing.

These sticks are smaller then the ones that come in the box of seven. It took some time before I realized how switch the cap and insert it into the machine. If your not a morning person like myself, beware. I was almost late for work the first day I tried to use it because I was half asleep and didn’t understand the diagram. THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE PRODUCT! It works great once you figure it out.

Michael Clayton (Widescreen Edition)
George Clooney’s performance drives this tense corporate thriller from Bourne trilogy screenwriter James Gilroy, who makes his directorial debut here. Clooney is the eponymous “hero,” a burnt-out lawyer who cleans up legal messes created by the clients of a large law firm. When a crisis materializes in the form of the firm’s top shark (Tom Wilkinson) suffering an apparent meltdown while defending a shady chemical company from lawsuits, Clayton discovers not only a cover-up to deny payments to farmers injured by the company’s products, but a chance to find some purpose in the face of his life’s downward. Clooney (who also co-produced the film) brings soul and quiet determination to his beleaguered character, and there’s excellent support from Wilkinson, Sydney Pollack (also a co-producer), and Michael O’Keefe; Gilroy’s script also does a solid job of stacking the deck against Clayton as he attempts to ferret out the truth behind the cover-up. Unfortunately, the film settles for a pat conclusion that, while emotionally satisfying, feels forced and delivers an overly simplistic message (corporations can be bad; morally questionable work can make one feel dirty). And Tilda Swinton is wasted in a thankless role as the chemical company’s nerve-wracked and unsympathetic legal counsel. Still, Clooney fans will appreciate this fine addition to his growing roster of flawed heroes. – Paul Gaita

Customer Review: Deserved more at the Oscars
Now, I haven’t seen all the Oscar nominated films but I really thought this was a well developed storyline with fine acting from George Clooney and the rest of the cast. The movie is complete, that is to the story comes full circle through climax to resolution, a idea that seems to be losing ground to popular films like I am Legend and Cloverfield that leave the movie-goer with an empty feeling after 2 hours. Worth picking up as a great movie, however outside of the film itself, the Blu-Ray disc lacks any special features, making-of shorts or extensive deleted or extended footage.

Customer Review: Interesting yet predictable
After watching the movie, I can see why it was nominated for “Best Picture”… and why it didn’t win. The writing and acting were great, making the movie well worth watching. Wilkinson made you feel for his character, a lawyer defending a dirty corporation whose work - both the long, difficult hours and the very nature of it - and family troubles had taken their toll. Naturally, you root for Clooney’s character, a flawed lawyer who isn’t properly recognized for his work because of the type of work he does, cleaning up other people’s messes. The movie demonstrates extremes of how evil a corporation can be, without beating you over the head with the message that corporations are bad. My problem with the movie is that while it is very well done and isn’t your typical lawyer movie, it is still predictable. It wasn’t too far into the movie before I could see the inevitable outcome, but I still wanted to see how they did it. The wonderful acting made it enjoyable beginning to end.

The “deleted scenes” included were mildly interesting but were not missed. Concerning the blu-ray presentation, the picture quality was superb and the sound crystal clear, although I wouldn’t call it a good film for demonstrating the ability of blu-ray. Despite that, it’s a great film for those into blu-ray looking to expand beyond all those action movies.

Customer Review: Fascinating and revelatory
I love this book! It’s the most thought-provoking book I’ve ever read on gardening and environmental stewardship. I had never really realized that exotic plants don’t participate as part of the food chain. As I came to realize after reading this book, planting a garden with exotic plants is like setting a table with fine silver and china, inviting your guests to dinner, and omitting the food.

The author would have us completely eliminate exotic plants from our gardens. I’m sure he’ll wince if he reads this review, but I don’t think I can go quite that far. I inherited a yard that is planted with the grass, trees and shrubs typically planted by developers, and I can’t quite imagine starting over from scratch. But I do intend to focus on native plants for all future plantings. I had never considered the possibility before, but I can imagine getting really excited about fostering and finding the fascinating and beautiful insects depicted in his excellent photographs.

The writing style is surprisingly engaging for a topic that is fairly scientific in nature. I enjoyed every word of it.

Aladdin
Disney’s 1992 animated feature is a triumph of wit and skill. The high-tech artwork and graphics look great, the characters are strong, the familiar story is nicely augmented with an interesting villain (Jafar, voiced by Jonathan Freeman), and there’s an incredible hook atop the whole thing: Robin Williams’s frantically hilarious vocal performance as Aladdin’s genie. Aladdin is probably the best cartoon movie ever made. It is the story of a young man who tries to win the hand of an Arabian princess with the help of a genie. There are conflicts with an evil vizier who tries to gain the genie’s power and destroy Aladdin. Action packed, fast paced, many twists and turns in the plot, fantastic animation (the old fashion kind), great music, romance, and humor. Great characters. Even like the villains. In short, this movie has it all. And strangely, this movie has more heart than the vast majority of so-called Romanic movies. As an adult, I hate to admit it, but this is among my favorite movies. It also makes a great gift for children.

Last of the Dogmen
Despite an irritating, tacked-on voice-over narration that somebody must have thought was necessary to make sense of the story (it wasn’t), Last of the Dogmen is actually a very moving and magical film. Tom Berenger plays a Montana bounty hunter who helps an anthropologist (Barbara Hershey) search for the descendants of a Cheyenne tribe who disappeared in the 1870s. What the two find in a remote mountain stretch is an entire community of Cheyenne who have kept themselves cut off from the modern world. A Dances with Wolves parallel emerges as the white outsiders gradually fit in, but Last of the Dogmen stands up just fine without comparison to any other films. As in Kevin Costner’s Oscar-winning movie, however, there are ways in which this film captures a similar sense of yearning, mystery, and loss. –Tom Keogh

Customer Review: Great Escape Flick
What a delight it was viewing this movie! the characters came across as genuine people you might actually know. The scenery was breathtaking. The story realistic yet fanciful. I’ve often driven through certain regions of the U.S. and imagined the lost Indian tribes that inhabited them. This movie brought my imagining to life. A hidden band of Cheyenne Indians still living as their ancestors did well over 100 years ago. It’s “Lost Horizons” and “Brigadoon” of the native American world.

I love the outdoors, but must live in the real world to make a living. This movie provides an escape into today’s wildnerness in which one is able to meet face to face Indians as they once lived. A bit fanciful and escapist, but heck, isn’t that what you want when you view a movie?

Customer Review: SPOILERS!!! It’s been a while…
… since I saw this movie, but a few things keep bothering me (in random order):

If the “Dogmen” were supposed to be the last ones standing and fight until the bitter end, how come any were left?

It took Hershey and Berenger several days to reach the Indians, but when Berenger has to go to town for medicine, he gallops right on down the mountain, zooms into the pharmacy, and gallops right back up. Yeah. Right!

Which reminds me: Horses are plains animals and of very limited use in steep terrain. Indians hunting on horseback in those woods and mountains? Extremely unlikely!

Why does Berenger bother to blow up the passage behind the waterfall after the sheriff and his cronies have just been on top of him in a helicopter? What was the purpose? There was no way those guys could NOT have seen the Indians, so the whole dynamite scene was pointless.

Last but not least, I found the characters annoyingly stereotypical: the archaeothropologist is swooning over the “noble savages”; the Indians are stoic; the white loner is rough because he’s suffered a tragic loss, but that’s just a facade anyway; whereas the sheriff is really arrogant and hateful - to name just a few.

There was no chemistry between Hershey and Berenger whatsoever, and her character’s ability to speak fluent Cheyenne was annoying.

Overall I keep wondering what the point of this movie was - other than producing some sort of “Dances With Wolves” spinoff with a pseudo-dramatic end when she decides to stay with the Indians and he rides off into the sunset.

I’m glad I watched this on cable and didn’t spend any money on it!
