Wicker Patio Furniture Fits Into Many Decorating Schemes

Among the outdoor furniture lovers there used to be a saying that with wicker the rotting is quicker, but new technological advances have made the processed wicker patio furniture last considerably longer that even just a few short years ago.

Additionally, synthetic wicker patio furniture can be left outdoors all year long without worry about it being damaged as the vinyl and resins used to day to make fake wicker are far more advanced. From traditional brown to white and many other colors in between, wicker patio furniture is desired for its unique appearance and has universal appeal. Whether it is used for chair or benches and even tables, wicker patio furniture is light enough for one person to move around by themselves as well as being sturdy enough to withstand frequent use. It is also easy to clean by hitting with a garden hose and tough stains can be removed with a gentle detergent and light scrubbing with a soft bristle brush. Many people choose wicker patio furniture due its appearance and they believe it presents a better image than that made of many other materials. Some use a wicker-metal hybrid in their furniture for additional durability against rough treatment. Real Wood Needs Tender Loving Care Real wicker patio furniture should not be left outside in inclement weather as the material is not designed for extended exposure to the elements. Some of the wicker patio furniture made of real wicker has been known to warp if it gets wet and then sits in the sun to dry. Keeping it clean and dry is one secret to extending the life of wicker and moving into a protected area during bad weather will save it from weather damage. Many times, manufacturers of wicker patio furniture will apply paint to the wood prior to assembly to help extend its useful life. For the usual light brown look of wicker, a coating of clear protective material may also be used. In either case, once the homeowner gets it home, they will have to perform regular inspections and maintenance on the wicker patio furniture to keep it looking as good as new. The most common complaint of those who own wicker patio furniture is the prospect of getting splinters from the ends of the wood when it begins to split. To eliminate this hazard, when and end begins to show signs of coming apart, coating it with a clear lacquer can help hold it together and splitting even more.
